mpg files wont play video, and can crash front row on leopard

Description

i have many different file types...all of which work fine in QT and VLC and MediaCentral?. I have Perian installed.

when i use Sapphire to play one of the .mpg files, it will:

- if first time selecting .mpg file ... then it will play audio only (shows black screen with white audio track display as if listening to music). - if I select another mpg file to play within sapphire, it will then unexpactadly quit Front Row.

Hopefully someone can resolve this issue ultra fast...as it is very unusable if all other mediacentrs can play it...but sapphire cant. and it doesnt make sense either...since QT plays the files fine, but Sapphire (which uses Front Row [which uses QT for playback]) cant. wierd and annoying.

please help!!!!!

note - this was an issue in all beta 4 and 5 versions so far.

Haven't tried it in Frontrow, but Apple (stupidly) limited the QT playback framework on the AppleTV so that it cannot properly play mpeg files. Interestingly enough, mpeg files did play in the version 1.0 of the software. Most likely, the fault lies with them.

Just want to add that I have come across the same issue for a couple of videos. Like the original poster, I'm using FrontRow?, not ATV. I haven't tried to figure out the issue(s), but I have run across them before. If I see it again, I'll do some more digging.

I've had similar problems. Except after selecting the mpeg file, the audio will play until I restart FrontRow? (even if I try to play something else). If anyone is interested in looking at the actual mpeg file, let me know.
