Description
I mounted a share into the /Movies folder on my aTV using nitoTV. Sapphire recognizes the shows on that share and even properly downloads meta-data for the shows from the internet (e.g. for Lost, Heroes, etc.) However, wenn I browse through the shows and select a file to play, nothing happens. Just a black screen.
The same procedure works perfectly fine for files stored locally in the Movies folder on my aTV. Any thoughts/ ideas how I can fix this?
Would be a pity because I really love the Sapphire frappliance and would hate to have to copy my TV Show collection to the aTV box.
Thx in advance, Stefan

Replying to pmerrill:
You need to have Perian installed to play files with Sapphire. Refer to the AwkwardTV Beginners_Guide.
I admit to being a noob... but not that stupid. Perian is -- of course -- installed.
Any further thoughts?

What method did you use to mount it (AFP, SMB, ...)? Try other methods. I find that AFP seems to be the most reliable, and SMB through shlite is nearly worthless.

I don't know if this is the exact same thing that's going on with Stefan, but my appleTV is doing something similer. Here is the Scenario:
- I'm using Sapphire 1.0b4.1
- Mounting movies via AFP
- Movie data shows a negative value for duration
- When you attempt to play the movie, it shows a window like the normal AppleTV Music playback, but the progress bard quickly fills-up and then goes past the bounds of the indicated spot for the progress.
- Movies playback fine when stored on the local HD
Thanks for your help, and please ask questions if you have any.

Negative value for duration is usually indicative of not being able to actually open the file. I get this when I create 0 byte files to test naming schemes within Sapphire. Can you confirm that the frontrow user on the ATV is actually capable of reading the file?

Yeah, they play fine on my other macs with perian, and when I transfer the files to the AppleTV's local Hard Drive, they play fine on my AppleTV.
I did, reencode one of them with visual hub and now it plays fine, but it seems weird that I would have to do that with so many files.
Thanks for your help.
