Description
It appears that Quicktime is not capable of playing back HD content in formats such as MKV or other native formats. The only way HD plays back in Quicktime is when its been converted to be iTunes friendly. This is the case even when using Perian. VLC on the other hand does a wonderful job of decoding virtually any HD format. It would be a great feature to be able to use VLC as the playback engine instead of Quicktime.

Replying to dmorris:
MKV is not a native format, perhaps you meant naive.
Or... follow what's mentioned in the manual: http://appletv.nanopi.net/manual/advanced/
BS. Its decoders are slow and unoptimized. Perian is faster than VLC (I've actually tested this).
Patches welcome.
